A scrapbook collage shows Rory the Pig and a title in cut out letters that says who is Rory?

So, what’s the scoop on the pig?

Our very own Rory H. Parker, or just plain Rory for short, is much more than just “some pig.” Rory is named after Park Library’s founder Roy H. Park, an exemplary North Carolinian (after all, he did win the North Carolina Award) who accomplished wonderful things in the Journalism and Mass Communications industry. Roy H. Park was basically what many folks would call a star. He did a little bit of everything — reporting, public relations, even owned his own highly successful broadcasting company, Park Broadcasting, Inc. — and oh yeah, he founded your favorite cake mix brand, Duncan Hines, too. Not kidding.

Regardless, it’s often said that one’s destiny lies within their name. So, it’s no mistake at all that we named the single most impressive pig after an equally extraordinary man.

When this super pig isn’t out saving the world, she enjoys taking photos, reading the news, and hanging out with her Park Library friends and family. Rory believes in fair and accurate journalism, inclusivity, and beating Duke at absolutely all costs. She’s adventurous, a great listener (the big ears help), and has an unmatched Instagram and Twitter aesthetic — as can be seen through her own hashtag, #RoryHParker or Instagram tag #RoryThePig.

It’s really no wonder why we’re so big on the pig here at Park.
